Validation and Verification

About Validation and Verification

  1. ART requires independent third-party validation and verification of all Participant programs by accredited Validation and Verification Bodies (VVBs). No TREES Credits will be issued without having successfully passed a rigorous validation and verification process to ensure the Program meets the requirements of TREES, including all safeguards.

All validation reports, verification reports, and verification opinions will be publicly posted in the ART Registry following ART review and acceptance. The ART Board will then review and approve all verifications and TREES Credit issuances. ART will issue serialized TREES Credits to the Participant’s account upon request.

Overview of the Validation and Verification Process

  1. ART-approved VVBs must execute a Participant-specific TREES Validation and Verification Conflict of Interest Form prior to each validation or verification. This document must be submitted to the ART Secretariat for review and approval prior to validation or verification activities beginning. All validations and verifications shall be conducted in accordance with the requirements of the TREES Validation and Verification Standard, v2.0. VVBs must use the latest approved document templates when completing the Validation Report, Verification Report, or Verification Opinion.

ART Validation and Verification Bodies

  1. ART-Approved Validation and Verification Bodies (VVBs)

The ART Secretariat maintains a list of ART Approved Validation and Verification Bodies. Applications are accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis.

    Becoming an ART-Approved Validation/Verification Body

Each ART validation and verification body (VVB) must be accredited for ISO 14065 with ART included in its scope by an International Accreditation Forum (IAF) member with whom ART has a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

Entities seeking to become an ART-approved Validation and Verification Body can apply by completing the required application, attestation and submitting the required supporting documentation.
