Marieke Sandker

Marieke Sandker is a forests and climate change expert with over 15 years of experience. She worked for several international organizations (CIFOR, IUCN, FAO, among others). In her current position with FAO, she coordinates the work of the REDD+ cluster on Forest Reference Levels and GHG inventory reporting to the UNFCCC. For five years she lived and worked in developing countries (Cameroon, El Salvador and Indonesia) managing and evaluating forestry projects and analysing forest landscape dynamics to inform policy makers seeking to reconcile conservation and development goals. She has a PhD in Forest Ecology (2010) from the Autonomous University of Madrid and an MSc degree (2002) in Biology from Wageningen University and Research Centre.

Board of Directors

The Advisory Board oversees ART’s implementation in accordance with the evolving UNFCCC processes and guarantees good governance, transparent rules, and processes that assure quality and adequate safeguards. ART Advisory Board members have all agreed to the ART Board Charter and the ART Ethical Standard. Advisory Board members serve in their personal capacities, not as representatives of their organizations or of particular stakeholder groups.

Secretariat

The ART Secretariat, hosted by Winrock International, is responsible for the operation of the ART program, including the development of The REDD+ Environmental Excellence Standard (TREES) and overseeing the registration, verification and issuance of Board-approved TREES Credits on the ART registry.
